meeting against changing law that may ban import CDs(parallel importation), 2004.5.4

ans:
Japanese 5 majors' import amount are 40 percent of all import CDs.
The foreign CDs pressed in japan are 70 millions.
The imported CDs are 60 millions.
CDs of Japanese pops etc. are 170 millions.
returning exported CDs are 680 thousands. Very limited.

We parliamentarians don't know well about music.
The japan record association expressed us "this law is for banning bootlegs.".
the meeting for copyrights didn't conclude changing the copyright-law is reasonable,
but The Bunkatyo (culture ministry) is going ahead with its changing saying it is for state benefit.
Only Yoda and a few of the ministry are doing it.

version CDs, all of the artist's CD, aren't they?
People who buy the bootlegs must have all CDs of the artist.
well,I think the bootlegs are live-recorded, and the pirate editions
are copy of original CDs. These are completely different.

Mr. Yoda, top of japanese record association says RIAA don't use its right(requiring stopping importing CDs that have japanese version).
But RIAA sent faximili as public comment last Dec. .
they say "importing is not good" on it. (RIAA)
Koseitorihiki-iinkai (meeting for justice in trading) says
"if record companys require import banning right, they must give up the system of
keeping price on CDs "
Why they hurry up such? There are some hidden power?
The new Japan-US tax teaty start this July. This concerns with it?
This treaty says the company must pay tax to state that the company's capital is over 50 percent.
All 5 majors in Japan will pay tax to US by this treaty.

Banning parallel importation is easier for small company by claiming to company of lisence.
It need not to do by law.
